Default What Does Mrs. ep Have, and What Does Mrs. ep Need to Call? FT 100

FT NL 100, 6-max, 6-handed

Okay, Mrs. epdaws has a couple of hands from her evening session. These are just a couple of hours old. Btw, I have not played poker in like weeks or something.

HAND ONE

Villain is a 2p2er, pretty tight most of the time, running at around 18/11/2. Villain can mix it up on occasion, but Mrs. epdaws says she usually goes after donkeys, not 2p2ers.

Effective stacks $100.

Preflop: Mrs. epdaws is Button with XX.

Folds to Mrs. epdaws, Mrs. epdaws raises to $3.50, only the BB calls.

Flop: ($7) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Villain leads for $5, Mrs. epdaws raises to $12, Villain shoves.

First off, I KNOW that the flop raise needs to be more. Just tell me what you think Villain's range is, and what we need, at a minimum, to call the push.

---------------------------

HAND TWO

Villain is a 2p2er, similar stats, though we have less hands against this opponent -- about 300 total.

Effective stacks $125.

Preflop: Mrs. epdaws is CO with XX.

UTG limps, Villain makes it $4.50 in MP, Mrs. epdaws calls, UTG calls.

Flop: ($13) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

UTG checks, MP checks, Mrs. epdaws bets $10, UTG folds, MP calls.

Turn: ($33) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Villain checks, Mrs. epdaws bets $22, Villain shoves.

What is Villain's range? What MUST Mrs. epdaws have, at a minimum, to call this shove?

h1- 2p2er has a set almost always.

h2- mrs epdaws must have a set at the minimum i think. villan has a set or a flush most times, sometimes stuff like AQ.

Orange, and others:

In H1, how often do you call with AA or KK? How about TT-QQ?

In H2, how often do you call with As Kx? How often do you call with Ax Ks?

Hand 1- I think it's a bad call here without a straight or set. He's pushing $125 into a small pot and I dont see any nitty type player doing this on that board without a monster. I prob fold an overpair here most of the time.

Hand 2-This is the classic line of him having a huge hand. He check calls the flop and C/raises all in on the turn. I put him on a set of Aces/Queens or AsQx AxKs. I think you need a set or AQ minumum to call him.

Note that villain in hand 1 didn't reraise preflop despite being a TAG. For this reason, if we're calling here with AA-KK, we should probably be calling with QQ - JJ as well as villain almost never has an overpair or even an overcard here unless they're going crazy with A9 or something silly like that. That being said I fold everything but sets and the straight in hand one.

I agree with orange on hand 2

Hmm, I think Villain can possibly trap with AA-KK, no?

H1, no real draws. Villain bet-3bets. I'd say set nearly always. I guess AA,KK is possible. But I'd probably fold all overpairs here. But I wouldn't be raising here in the first place with any hands except those I wanted to get allin with or those that were bluffs and easy folds.

H2. I'd say he has a flush nearly always here. I don't think you should call with AxKs or AsKx much at all, especially not the Ks as you could be drawing dead. But you probably shouldn't beat the turn with either of those hands as villain's most likely hand after c/calling the flop as pfr is a flush draw.

Ready for a twist? Mrs. epdaws was VILLAIN in both hands!

Hand one, Mrs. epdaws had 97s. She said the Button opener, Tagalag on FT, was opening every CO or Button. Tagalag CALLED with TT in that hand.

Hand two, Mrs. epdaws had As Jh. Villain was limitnl on FT, and CALLED with Ax Ks.

MORAL OF THE STORY: 2p2ERs ARE STATION DONKS.

It sucks, because I have to tell Mrs. epdaws that I LOVED her play in those hands, but she's dealing with the sting of losing two large pots. I told her that in both cases, there is no way she should have been called. Her hands are at the very lowest end of her range to make those plays, and she STILL had a lot of outs in each hand.

This is what happens when my wife tries to gain aggression! She gets donk-called by players who should be smart enough to lay a hand down!

Am I allowed to say I hate Mrs epdaws line on both hands now that I know she was villain and know her hand?

Relying on players folding overpairs, TPTK doesn't seem like a good idea to me. For both of those hands you only get called by better hands and fold worse.
