I live in San Diego, so I was thinking of setting up an account in TJ. Any suggestions on which bank to go with?

What good will this do?? You will still have a US address. Your IP will still show US. A lot of casino's/poker rooms will ban you from gambling because of your 'two country' association. And, at least a 9% loss in converting pesos to dollars--10.99 pesos this morning for $1.00, maybe more since you are going from dollars to pesos(to deposit) then to dollars(to play) then to pesos(withdrawal to bank) then to dollars if you need money. Also, how about the wait time to come back into the US from TJ--I heard it is horrendos. Why don't you just go to one of the many Indian casino in the area and play poker until all this hubaloo calms down. If you still want to do this then google mexican banks and then make your decision. Any one of the national banks will be safe although your are talking about mexico.

What good will this do?? [/ QUOTE ] I was contemplating this also. Just to get existing funds out of neteller. Set up a P.O. Box or similar in Mexico, create a bank account, set up a new neteller account, do a peer to peer transfer and then withdraw. Honestly, though, I believe that neteller will eventually be able to return our money. |

I was also thinking of doing this, however I believe that the IP address thing will be more difficult to overcome in Mexico since the infrastructure is much poorer then Canada.

Ok fine but, I e-mailed netteller one day(awhile ago) asking a question regarding my financial situation(all US) and I was in Mx. when I e-mailed them. I got an answer acouple of days later saying that I must live in the same country as my bank account etc. I couldn't sign up. If you do this you will (probably) have to be in Mx. and any future correspondence better be from Mx also. Good way for somebody to scam you on a peer to peer if they know your situation, which I'm sure they can guess. Good luck

I wired money from Bank of America to BANAMEX once, a couple of years ago and it went ok. At least the recipient says they got it. The process was very weird and involved one guy at BoA reading a long number over the phone to another guy in Mexico. I'm not recommending it or not recommending it or anything, it's just one data point.
