5/10 PLO live, top FH vs Quads. 6.5k pot
Villian is this hand is a friend of mine, im posting the hand because i want to know how to avoid spots like this. FYI, i won the pot but i want to know what to do if im ever in his shoes.
playing 5/10plo and 10/20plhe rotation live, its omaha atm. idiot raises utg, villian calls in MP, i call on button with 5d 6h 6c 7d. Flop comes Tc 6d 6s. Idiot leads for pot $120. Villian calls, i call, turn 3c, Idiot goes AI for his last $500. Villian thinks for a while and calls, i call. We both aren't great at omaha and only play it cause the game is super soft and full of rich gambling fish. So at this point i am about 90% sure he has TT. There and zero draws and im pretty sure he would raise the flop with JJ+ to try get HU AI with the fish. River pot is about 2k. River rolls of a 3. So board is T6643. Villian leads for $800, i raise $2k more putting him AI. Obv putting him AI on the river but i want to know reasons villian should be folding here or should he call and say it was a cooler now getting 3/1 on a call? |

The idea that you can fold every time you're beat is a fallacy. Your buddy got coolered, end of story. Stacks would half to be way deeper to avoid going broke here unless you're an UBER-nit and your friend knows it.

Re: 5/10 PLO live, top FH vs Quads. 6.5k pot
I think the play in this hand is rather transparent though... I mean cold calling twice then raising the river... Only other possible hand could be T6, and you gotta think that you're raising the turn or flop w/ that... In special situations against someone I have history with and know is a thinking player, I could find a fold...

Well, what are YOU supposed to have in villain's mind?
The worst hand I'd play the way you did would be T6. I'd also play TT that way up to the river, but, since he has TT himself, you can't have that. As deep as the stacks are, I like his river bet of $800 with the second best possible hand, where I think you almost have to grit your teeth and still call with T6, but when you raise, I think TT has to lay down. Unless you play very differently than I do, you've just got quads and nothing less in that spot. |

Are we never bluffing here then?

[ QUOTE ]

If you never bluff in protected pots, you are missing out on a small but significant level of EV, not to mention the metagame aspect. EDIT: I'm not suggesting this is a good spot to bluff if you didn't have it, just that it is 150% expert to build up a sidepot with nothing and steal it on the river. When your nothing beats the all-in guys nothing and you scoop, everyone else at the table will think you're a madman and your metagame EV goes through the roof. |

Re: 5/10 PLO live, top FH vs Quads. 6.5k pot
Well, there's a Reuben hand where he views it as a mistake not to have built a big side-pot on the turn where he had TP plus draw and correctly figured the other deep stack as having just a draw with which he'd have to call.
I just think this situation is completely different. |
