Can\'t play Absolute unless on admin account?
there's no way around this? seems pretty ridiculous. there's plenty of legit computer activity that isn't done on administrator account.

More than likely this is so when they are doing their snooping around, which you gave them permission to with the EULA, they need admin access level. Otherwise, various folders and processes can be off limits to their scanning, allowing bots and cooperative software to run undetected.

You likely don't have to be logged in as Administrator properly but the account you use, say FLast, has to be in the administrators group. |

[/ QUOTE ] Sorry FLast is just a generic example of a way an account may be configured F = First initial of first name Last = Last name. So add whichever account you use on a day to day basis and for poker needs to the Admiinstrators group and you should be fine. Now if you don;t have Admnistrator priveleges on the machine you tyically play on you should seriously reconsider playing on that machine going forward. FWIW, I am not endorsing this policy by Absolute. |

So add whichever account you use on a day to day basis and for poker needs to the Admiinstrators group [/ QUOTE ] This is a seriously bad idea. The account you use for day-to-day use should NOT have admin priv. This is computer security 101. It's also one of the main reasons Windows computers are so infected with viruses, etc. I don't play on Absolute, so I can't say for sure, but what problem exactly are you having? Does Absolute require that you be logged in with admin priv? Or does it just give various errors about permissions, couldn't open files, etc? If it's the latter, the problem is likely one of file permissions. The folder for Absolute under Program Files probably doesn't have full access for your account. Try giving your account full access to that folder (and its subfolders), see if that solves your problem. -- Kevin |

Re: Can\'t play Absolute unless on admin account?
It will not run if it detects that the application is not running with admin priv. The easiest work I have heard of, note I have not tried it, is to use a virtual machine in admin mode to limit the exposure of your rig to their software.
