why can\'t I see Google ads?
I can't see Google ads. The ones on the right and top of search results. I just don't get any. Anyone else have this? Any idea why? Yes, I actually want the ads back.

Re: why can\'t I see Google ads?
There are firefox extensions that do this, though I'm not sure why. (They barely take any more time to load, and are often useful.)
That's my only idea. -Sam |

Re: why can\'t I see Google ads?
Sam is right. If you are using Firefox you likely have an extension (now called add-on's) installed that blocks ads. 2+2 prohibits the discussion of such applications/plugins because they are ad supported.
Let us know if you aren't using Firefox of if you still cant' figure it out. |

Re: why can\'t I see Google ads?
Yes, I run Firefox. I just checked IE and I do see ads there. But I don't run any ad-blocking software on Firefox. The only extensions I'm running on Firefox are:
- Roboform - DictionarySearch - Google Toolbar - IE Tab - Search Status |

Re: why can\'t I see Google ads?
Hmm, well that is very strange. I don't know what would be preventing the ads. Firefox 2.0.0.1 isn't automatically blocking the ads for me without a plugin.
Sorry I can't help ya more....you're probably the only guy in the world who's upset he can't see the ads on the internet! j/k Maybe someone else can chime in with the answer? |

Re: why can\'t I see Google ads?
Ok, wait a minute, I just thought about something.... I don't run Google Toolbar, but I was curious if there was some sort of an ad blocking feature in their settings? That would seem strange for them to offer such a feature, but it's a thought....

Re: why can\'t I see Google ads?
somewhat off-topic, but I ran in to an interesting scenario recently from a post in MM&B. I saw different google search results (ordering) than others.....someone suggested "Are you running google desktop?" which I wasn't....however, I noticed I was getting other google-related anomalies.....I had recently installed "Google Earth". It apparently forcibly interfaced w/ FF and search results. While it doesn't make any sense at all that something similar would *block* google's ads....perhaps some competing search site utility (even a yahoo messenger update) could feasibly deactivate their competition. (Obv, installing Google Earth severely affected my google searches....no reason a yahoo product couldn't block google moneymakers).
Just a thought.....I haven't tested if this is actually happening....just suggesting it as a possibility. |

Re: why can\'t I see Google ads?
I don't see any ad-blocking option in Google Toolbar. In fact I checked the settings of all my extensions, and don't see anything relevant.

Re: why can\'t I see Google ads?
Fixed my own problem. Tools/Clear Private Data... fixed it. First thing I should have tried.

Re: why can\'t I see Google ads?
Congrats! So clearing your cache/cookies/history solved it? Strange, but glad it worked!
