Default 8-16 Last Night

Here's an interesting (to me anyway) thing that happened in the 8-16 at Wynn last night.

A player is "all-in" in a pot and loses all of his chips. He's now sitting in his seat with no chips in front of him.

The dealer is now dealing a new hand. When he gets to our player of note, he asks if he is going to buy more chips. The player responds, "I'm five hundred behind" (To those new to B&M, that means he has $500 on the way).

The dealer deals him in.

He goes on to win this pot (without chips of his own, which is fine as long as he has money on the way).

We soon learn that he has no money on him (other then the pot he just won betting on the honor system).

He asks for a marker. They send him to the casino host (or something of that ilk). He is told the chips he just won must stay on the table while he tries to get the $500 he had said he had coming.

As he's gone, the talk is.......

What happens IF he comes back with zero money?

One floorman (but not the head floor on duty) told us the pot would more then likely go to the second best hand (This is the California way he said) but that he would have to check with the lead floor to make sure.

I was at this table but not in this hand.
A good friend of mine had
the second best hand and said he would be happy to chop it with the third player (in the hand on the river) if the guy comes back with no money.

Alas, he WAS able to get a marker for the $500 and all was well with the world upon his return.

I really like the Wynn btw. I thought this was an interesting situation. Feedback?

Thanks,

Howard
