Default LRR HU - Theory

First off I'm not entirely sure if there is a better place for this but this seemed most appropriate.

I won my first tournament today (only a microstake for ~$150) and as this was the first time I had been heads up in a MTT it got me thinking about different strategies for when you're down to the last 2.

The Limp-Reraise is a play I've seen used a lot in recent poker shows I've been watching (mostly notably Phil Hellmuth in poker superstars 3) and I was wondering what the general conditions should be in order to attempt it.

The main things I considered were 1) optimal stack sizes 2) hand requirements and 3) flow of the match. I came up with some ideas about these myself and I will post again on this thread when I wake up (I'm a Brit so it's about 3am as I'm writing this) but for now I was wondering what other people thought of the tactic.
