Why is family guy so funny, yet American Dad sucks so bad?

Seriously, am I the only one that thinks this? I hate American Dad so much. Both were created by the same person for anyone that doesn't know.

You know at first American Dad was terrible and Family Guy was obv da shizzle. However, since Family Guy reappeared on the air I think it sucks pretty bad and is obviously written by more than just Seth McFarland - kind of like what happened to the Simpsons after so many years on the air, although much faster. In that time I think American Dad got much funnier and went from "Utterly terrible" to "Somewhat watchable." Old Family Guy was great but that show went past its prime way too quickly.

people dont talk about how bad american dad is because it is on so close to "the war at home" and there is no show that could be called bad when it is in a timeslot next to the war at home, which is the worst show in the history of television.

American Dad sucks so bad because it is Family Guy. O RLY, a talking alien? Could that be like a talking dog? A fish who speaks oddly who has a bizarre relationship with the matriarch of the family - wow, that doesn't sound anything like Stewie. The dad's a loudmouth idiot.

I watched three episodes and hoped for the show's failure, so they'll bring the good Family Guy writers back to where they belong. Kind of like the Critic to the Simpsons - except it turns out those guys suck.

That's funny, I thought "a large-headed character with homosexual tendencies" was Stewie and "a family pet with an unrequited crush on the matriarch of the family" was Brian.

Anyway, I haven't watched either in a long time, but last I watched I agreed with the guys saying American Dad was getting better while Family Guy was getting stale.
