AA on weak board
Live 15/30
Villian just sat down so no read, he doesn't look like a nut though. Also, he was looking down and talking on his cell phone this entire hand. I open AdAc in MP, bb calls. Flop: 883 (2 diamonds) He bets, I raise, he quickly 3bets, I call. Turn: black 2. What's my best plan from here? Should I just call down to keep him firing with a weaker pair and protect myself from an 8? Or is it worth popping the turn and, if so, do I payoff the times he 3bets? |

Re: AA on weak board
You could consider just calling the turn and raising the river. I strongly doubt he'd play an 8 or 33 this fast on the flop. You have the best hand, and to extract max value, keep him betting.

Re: AA on weak board
I call flop and maybe raise the turn. With a lower pair, I might raise the flop.
Raising the turn as played is pretty pointless. |

Re: AA on weak board
I meant that I would feel fine about calling a 3-bet in this situation, I like the river raise line.
I think calling down would be fine if he 5-bet the flop or check raised us on the turn after we 4-bet the flop. Calling the flop 3-bet without the intention of raising one of the bigger streets seems too passive, and I'm one of the more passive 2+2ers out there. |

You could consider just calling the turn and raising the river. [/ QUOTE ] I like this line too, even if we have to call a river 3-bet. Lots of opponents won't 3-bet the river, even with a big 8, so we won't have to worry about the 3-bet nearly as often. |

[/ QUOTE ] agreed...change your "Lots of players" to say that pretty much no players will 3bet w/o at least a big 8 and i think you can fold to a river 3bet...this is part of the reason i prefer waiting to raise until the river... 1. we might spike a 2 outer when we are behind, something we can't do if we raise/fold the turn... 2. people play the river much more straight forward than the turn...for the most part live players are not tricky when it comes to the river, whereas they might do something weird on the turn w/ a random draw... i jsut really think that putting 4 bets in on the big streets is too much action in a live mid limit game... |
