Default Negreanu at WPO

Surprised there aren't more posts on it; I figure ppl are scared of being called a "fanboy" or having ppl reference the limited # of hands they saw DN play on HSP and deride his play. In any case, I think it's pretty damn impressive that he cashed at Foxwoods, essentially proclaimed on his blog ZJ style that he was going to kill it from then on out in tourneys, and then gets 3rd at Bellagio, moneys at PSA, and now final tabled the WPO. The consistency amazes me in these large fields, the only other players who seem to put up similar consistency are Barry G and Mizrachi (maybe Nam Le, ZJ, but their results are too limited, esp. in the latter case).

IMO, it seems that DN employs the Hellmuth smallball style to perfection, except that he also knows how to play against good players (make big calls, bluffs, 3rd and 4th level thinking), whereas Hellmuth can only dominate a table of weak opponents (as evidenced in his good results at the WSOP but rarely elsewhere as fields get tougher, and with deeper stacked poker)

Agreed, he kills the WPT format more consistantly than anyone. His book is going to be a big help.

Daniel is again playing tremendous poker. I hope he wins today. I think it's good for poker when he wins. He is the most popular player in the game.

I'm pretty sure he proclaims stuff like this in at least a third of his blogs.

I couldn't care less if he wins it or not. I don't think he is one of the more popular players. I like seeing young unknown guys in tournys. I mean if I wanted to see negranu play a tourny I would watch HSP and other shows.
