Default PS 5CD $20+trny - 1st place ?\'s

Finally I finished first is a strangely empty $20 5 card tourney. I have taken 2 2nd places in this tourney, a 3rd, and some teens among many busts since the introduction. Finally reached the Promised land!

I got lucky to get to final 12 players by drawing 3cards and holding KK and getting 44K on the draw to make a full, but the cards kept coming. Here is a sample.

Tournament: Pot Limit 5 Card Draw (150/300) (converter)

SB (17525), Seat 1
BB (5335), Seat 2
UTG (7515), Seat 3
CO (5520), Seat 5
Hero (3730), Seat 6

SB posts 150. BB posts 300.

Hero is Button with [6c 2s Kh Kc 8s]

Round 1: (450)

<font color="#666666">UTG folds. </font><font color="#666666">CO folds. </font><font color="red">Hero raises 900 to 1200. </font><font color="#666666">SB folds. </font><font color="red">BB raises 2700 to 3900. </font><font color="green">Hero calls 2500 (all-in). </font>
BB stands pat. Hero discards 6c 2s 8s.

Hero has [Kh Kc 4s 4d Kd]

Round 2: (7550)

No action.

Pot: (7550)

I hate to brag, but this was first 5 card overall win for me and was just complaining the other day about everyone ELSE getting lucky!

Thanks 2+2 and MIKE CARO for teaching me 5-card

I'm no 5CD expert, but calling an all-in with KKxxx gotta be the dumbest move i've seen today.

It really snowballed off the first hand.
You got caught out with KK but won the hand, now you have lots of chips and a wild image.
Its so money when you get a rush of cards soon after, because they are tripping over themselves trying to call your bets.
Stack, stack, stack, goodnight

So you should be gone. You obviously know that getting stacked with KK wasnt bright. But after that, i like your play. When you are hitting cards, the only mistake you can make is not betting them!
Congrats on 1st

THanks GUys,

Hey I don't mean to be rude here, but I am not exactly a blind squirrel in 5 card. I have played about 12-15 of these 5 card MTT's, and got 2nd twice, Third once, First Once (some luck in this spot) and cashed small four or 5 times.

I Called all in becuase that guy was basically being a nut for a while and I put him on poo hand. I was wrong and got lucky. If I remember correctly the prior hand he lost about 2/3 of his stack to a bad call, he re-raised big and showed down QQxxx

Stupid move I agree calling all in.

When I am seeing so much calling/drawing two and people busting my trips with straights and flushes, sometimes you get a feeling and go with it. And in cards, sometimes you get lucky.

On 2+2 anyone who gets lucky is a blind squirrel I guess, no matter the past record, they cant play cards because they make 1 bad call.

I guess you have to be ******** to get lucky, take it down, and get pat on back.

As long as you continue drawing 3 and getting fullhouses, I see no end to your success.

limping 1st in with a 4-flush is terrible... just like the KKxxx hand. You are lacking 5CD fundamentals and getting lucky.

Jameson, I've watched you play nd you're not a horrible player. honestly, though, if you played like this in a ring game, I think you'd get schooled over time. Your moves may work out in the end of a tourney somtimes, and your luck definitely helped, but you were getting lucky very often, and you know it. WHen I say ring games I mean the high limit ring games, I think you'd probably do well at low limits. IMO you wouldn't have done quite as well if you weren't up against moderate to poor players.

I think that your looser style of play has some merit to it, but you have probably found yourself getting knocked out very early when luck doesn't come your way. ON the other hand, you take more risks you'll build a monster a stack when you do get lucky, one probably bigger than my would be with the same amount of luck.

As for the flush limp, I doubt you're even getting pot odds if he pays you off, but who knows. At least most of the time.

Also, I find myself in your situation a lot, when you want to call an all in with a wild players raise. Here is the problem, and why the gapy conept is important.

Scenarios-

1) You are behind, and lose.
2) You are ahead, and get outdrawn
3) You are behind and outdraw him.

Okay, so sometimes you'll actually be ahead, but it's like calling an all in in hold em' with J10s or something. Okay, you might win but chances are you need some luck to even be ahead in the first place. I wish it worked like "Well they called my all in with QQ and outdrew me, so why can't I call their all in with KK?". But it doesn't. You're behind most of the time and even when you're ahead KK isn't strong enough to hold up if they improve. I wouldn't call all in here without High two pair. I would go all in the next hand with KK, but of course that's a different situation.

Now, next time someone calls your 444 all in with Kings and hits his third king it'll make sense. I know you know it already, but being "wild" this late in the game isn't really the same. A pot sized bet is justified with just a high pair, especailly when you can get someone to call your all in with just a high pair when you actually pick up a hand.

Either way, getting first isn't easy, and I know you didn't do it but diving head first into an empty pool so very big congratulations.

Next time do it in the 5 dollar tourney! I dare you!

Also Th_Webl and D3andD are good players and I woudln't expect them to just make a giant raise with just KK.
