Default 97s from the BB, flush draw and a poor turn card

I'm readless here.

Ultimate Bet $0.50/$1 6-max (5 handed)

Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Preflop:

UTG calls, CO calls, 2 folds, Hero checks.

Flop (3.5 SB, 3 players):

8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Hero checks, UTG checks, CO bets, Hero calls, UTG folds.

Turn: (2.75 BB, 2 players):

A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Hero checks, CO bets, Hero?

I wanted to fold.

Grunch:

No idea about shorthanded games but 1 on 1 for a small pot, low pot odds, heads-up so your implied odds are probably 1 extra bet at best... this seems to me -EV to call and thus folding is the correct play.

You have odds to draw on the turn as well.

1 extra bet would give you 4.75-1, which would be enough with just a flush draw, but you have the gutshot as well.

Wow, I didn't even see the gutshot. Jesus, it's good thing I actually did call.

Can we go over why betting > check-calling on this flop?

Because everyone is going to fold a lot and you have a 13 out draw if anyone calls. Make it 5-way and I'm checking to attempt a check raise if some people get trapped (otherwise just calling).

doc,

don't be too embarassed, dyson points out how i've forgotten to include gutshot outs in a number of responses (and a few of my own hands) so i THINK it's no big deal.

or we're retarded and that's why we don't have much br...

fyp, unless you're giving us 1 out for the remaining 9s and 7s (which would be a mistake, methinks).

9 + 4 - 1 yes, I just never subtract the Tc.
