I was getting roughly 2.5-1 on my call and I couldn't really put villain on a hand that made a straight, except maybe 77. He could have had a bigger set on the flop or rivered trip 9s, but I also thought it was possible he could have been playing an overpair badly (this assumption is based on general awful play in these tournaments rather than a particular read) |

Re: Turned set vs PFRer - 4 straight on river
I bet around 2/3-full pot on the turn.
On the river, I like a check/call if you think he might be FOS. |

Re: Turned set vs PFRer - 4 straight on river
I sincerely doubt he has a straight. The most likely scenario is that he is overplaying A 10 or JJ. This really has to be a call. He may have a better set, but if you are going to lead out on the river you have to pay him off with those stack sizes.

Agreed, with the scare card like that. You should be check/calling if you think he is FOS.

Re: Turned set vs PFRer - 4 straight on river
no, the value bet on the river is good/standard.
once he raises though, vs. an ABC opponent (and people in 2 dollar tournaments play rivers pretty straightforward IMO) you are not winning this hand. |
