$60 live - I made a play - whaddya think?
Started with 9 players, T5000 stacks, and blinds of 25/50.
Now down to 6 players, blinds at 100/200 w/ 25 ante. Pays top 2: 70/30 Hero and villain both have about T7500, but villain has hero covered by 100 or so. I don't have much of a read, but I have been playing pretty tight and showing down premium cards up to this point. Hero is in BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Preflop(450): folded to CO who raises to 400. SB calls, Hero calls. Flop (1350) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB checks Hero bets 1000 (I think there's a reasonable chance I'm best here.) CO raises to 2000 (Hmm.) SB Folds At this point I go to call, then I think a bit about pushing, but finally decide to wait for the turn and just call. Turn (5350) 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero is all in for about 5000 If you were villain - what would you call with here? I've been thinking about the hand, because that kind of move is a little out of character for me, and I'm wondering if it was brave or stupid. |

It's stupid.
First you aren't representing anything. Any hand that trap called on the flop is checking the turn. Secondly that 4 will almost never improve your hand. Thirdly villian almost never folds a better hand. I would also check this flop and as played fold to the minraise. |

Re: $60 live - I made a play - whaddya think?
My reasoning here was:
I might be best now, but not if a heart or big card comes. He's still got 2/3rds of his stack, and I don't see him being committed to the pot. I've got a few outs if I'm not best. You're right about not representing anything. I thought maybe putting pressure on him might be enough, though. |

Fold preflop. Fancy Play Syndrome has brought down many otherwise fine poker players.

Re: $60 live - I made a play - whaddya think?
Thanks for the feedback. He had QQ, went into the tank for about 4 minutes, almost mucked his cards (tossing motion, but didn't release. Maybe trying to get me to show mine prematurely?) and finally made the call.
River was no help. I don't agree with folding preflop - pot is 1250 and it's 200 to me to close the action. Check/fold the flop sounds about right. |

[ QUOTE ]
Hero is in BB with A 6 Preflop(450): folded to CO who raises to 400. SB calls, Hero calls. [/ QUOTE ] Mistake 1. Should have folded. WTF sort of flop are you hoping for? A = likely dying to a better kicker; 6 = shithouse for the ensuing reasons. [ QUOTE ] Flop (1350) 2 6 T SB checks Hero bets 1000 (I think there's a reasonable chance I'm best here.) [/ QUOTE ] Mistake 2. Should have checked. why put chips into a three-way pot without even top pair, and with no viable draw? [ QUOTE ] CO raises to 2000 (Hmm.) SB Folds At this point I go to call, then I think a bit about pushing, but finally decide to wait for the turn and just call. [/ QUOTE ] Mistake 3.Should have folded. Exactly what do you think the opponent has at this stage? AK? AQ? AJ? Sure, but even then every overcard becomes an immediate scare card, and a villain raising with less than a pair of sixes is going to lose their money so fast it isn't an issue. [ QUOTE ] Turn (5350) 4 Hero is all in for about 5000 [/ QUOTE ] Mistake 4. Should have checked, and folded to a bet. No opponent with a pulse is going to think that the 4 helped you. [ QUOTE ] If you were villain - what would you call with here? [/ QUOTE ] If I were villain, I would call with AT+ You took 4 actions in that hand, and made 4 mistakes. At literally every possible opportunity you were making a bad mistake. I don't think you could have played this hand any worse. [ QUOTE ] I've been thinking about the hand, because that kind of move is a little out of character for me, and I'm wondering if it was brave or stupid. [/ QUOTE ] I vote for the latter (before I re-read my post and added a whole lot more reasoning for my comments, it was a whole lot more nasty about your poor play here) |

Re: $60 live - I made a play - whaddya think?
It's 200 to you in a 1250 pot, but if you're c/fing the flop, then you're only playing if you hit 2 pair or better (are you willing to get involved on an A board with your kicker against a PF raiser and caller?).

Re: $60 live - I made a play - whaddya think?
terrible played hand, if you think ur good to his min raise push the flop and dont let a card peal off that could easily break you. The 4 didnt help you so its a moron push, you just let him see a free card for no reason.
