If you will talk to me over aim and help me fix my internet/router problem i will give u $20 on ftp or stars.
My problem:
I have a desktop, laptop, router, two functioning cables. When I plug my laptop into the wall the internet works with either cable. When I plug my desktop in it doesnt work. When I plug in my router it gives off signal, but internet doesnt work.

Have u checked that your desktop client have a static ip adress and the right gateway?
If you use dhcp check the ip adress, if its like 169.x there is something wrong with the dhcp ( start -> run -> cmd -> ipconfig /all)

Without telling us which router/ip configuration you have its more like shooting in the dark.

if you have the laptop and desktop plugged in, can u ping the router and/or any client ?

In other words, please check-out the CTH FAQ.

Report back with those test-results.
