Default Hu 10-25 Hand, WTF TO DO!?!?!

Ok, so i am playing 10-25 HU on absolute. Villian is Eturkalu for those who know him. He plays relativley streightforward is bigger pots IMO, and probably doesn't fold enough, which is partly because i don't fold enough, which makes him want to fold less often.

I complete in the SB with 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], he makes it 125 to go, i call.

Flop comes 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

He bets 225, i make it 700, he calls.

Turn is the 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

He checks, i catch a whiff of a c/r all in, so i check behind.

River comes 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

He checks, and the limit play in me wants to value bet and let him talk himself into a call with his overpair. So i fire out $1,000. Of course in limit, your opponent cannot shove as he did here. It 3175 more to me. So WFT is going on? Did he check a better hand on the river? Did he deduce that i was trying to value bet 2 pair and shove with an overpair as a bluff? Can he have air, a 5, a T, a set here? Also, i did post this hand in BBV (not saying as a beat or brag!), so if you saw it please refrain from giving anything away.

Thanks

Gabe

I don't think he folds one to me here. he just really doesn't like folding to me. You don't either on that site, guess it's my image

Call the river.

I may also bet the turn, depending on villain. And I hate ur limp-call prelop.

Raise preflop. Call river. Only hands you are behind are JT and 56 or something, and both of these hands may fold to the flop raise.

I don't think it's that 56 and TJ fold the flop that mandates a call (people get extremely optimistic with their draws often enough, especially HU, that you can't rule out TJ IMO). I think you have to call because this board is so good for bluffing.

I would expect you to fire the second barrel with a straight draw unless you had a pair with it and thus could try getting to showdown. So it's hard to put you on a straight given your flop raise and turn check, which means it's highly unlikely you hit your straight and thus unlikely you have a hand that can call here.

Then again, every time I make this call I run into a straight. But I think I'm just running into the high end of people's ranges...

FSU, hard to do OOP revised ideas?

Aba, why wouldn't have have, say, 9T or any other straight draw + pair combo here? I mean i guess he Q is if he checks a straight here in the first place, but if he does, are't there a lot more combo's than the ones you mentioned?

I think very important here is how much you have been limping preflop and how he has been responding. Lots of TAGs just don't respect the limp at all, and will raise with hands like T9, T8s etc.
