Default Curious/Dumb question?

Why is it illegal for a bank to mediate funds to a on online gambling site, but not illegal for there to be an ATM in a casino?

I'm still confused why it's legal to play poker in a casino, but not on the internet (ok, internet poker is not illegal, but that's really what they're getting at when they block banks from making financial transactions with the casino's).

Has any politician answered this question (or has the question even been asked)?

The answer is one of the following:

1) B&M casinos pay taxes to our government.

2) Our children must be protected from the evils of online gambling.

3) Stopping online gambling makes the country safer from terroists.

Yes, I know what the real answer has always been. The governemnt isn't making any money on internet gamblilng (save for what we report in our taxes). I guess I'd like to know if there's been an official answer to this type of question from the writers of this bill.

side note: there has been an ongoing rumor that the owners of one of my local casinos (hawaiin gardens) actually do in fact send money home to some middle eastern country to fund terrorism. I'm not positive on the country of course.

The federal government has jurisdiction over the internet gaming due to the commerce clause in the constitution which gives them power over interstate commerce. The federal government does not have jurisdiction over gambling that occurs at your local casino because it is not interstate in nature. Rather, the state or indian tribe has jurisdiction and can enact whatever laws they want.
