NL25: flopped set against possible flush on river
I just sat down an orbit ago, so no reads or stats on villain.
what is the best thing to do on river? push (i have about 15$ left)? block bet? value bet? check/call? check/fold? what about the bet sizes on flop/turn? are these ok? PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) CO ($28.55) Button ($23.20) Hero ($24.95) BB ($21.55) UTG ($29.55) UTG+1 ($26.25) MP1 ($19.55) MP2 ($9.10) MP3 ($26.65) Preflop: Hero is SB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Re: NL25: flopped set against possible flush on river
I'd prob push, any attempt to block will still pot commit you to calling an AI with all your chips.

There's no reasonable bet that hero can make that doesn't commit him to call a raise. By process of elimination, I think this is a check/call. If stacks were different blocking would probably be good. |

c/c [/ QUOTE ] I agree. Villain will call with few hands that you beat but might still bet some pairs and other stuff (maybe even a bluff representing a flush). And you don't risk to get raised. So your chances are good that you see a SD for a reasonable price. And I don't like a c/r on the flop in a limped pot. You hate to accidentally give a free card here. |

Re: NL25: flopped set against possible flush on river
Without a read, check call is standard. Not enough likely 2-pair type hands out there to get more value from on the river.

Re: NL25: flopped set against possible flush on river
I think you played this hand really well. I would recommend mixing it up preflop and throwing in a 3-4xbb raise every now and then, but your limp OOP is ok too. As much as you want value out of this hand, you gotta make it 4x villain's raise on flop and no less, so between $3.50-4 is good because this is NOT a dry board and villain can be betting with a wide range of hands here. As played C/C on river, overall well played hand though.

Re: NL25: flopped set against possible flush on river
thank you for the replies so far!
[ QUOTE ] And I don't like a c/r on the flop in a limped pot. You hate to accidentally give a free card here. [/ QUOTE ] you're right. i normally always lead out with flopped sets. in this situation with 5 people seeing the flop, i was quite sure that someone would bet on the flop and i can go for the checkraise. but still, as said, you're right, leading this flop with a potsized bet seems better to me. [ QUOTE ] I would recommend mixing it up preflop and throwing in a 3-4xbb raise every now and then, but your limp OOP is ok too [/ QUOTE ] In position, i would nearly always raise with 6s. but in the SB with 3 limpers, i think limping is better. i would raise with 88+, but more than 3-4bb. i think about 6bb seems right to me. c/c on river sounds good. i went for the push in the hand (but thought afterwards that it was the wrong decision), he called and showed K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] thanks again. |
