Default 5-10 deep, sick river card

5-10 @ venetian, cuttoff has $1225, SB and i both have ~5k....

1 limper, cuttoff raises to $50, i call w k[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] on button, SB and limper both call.

Cuttoff is pretty goofy and seems to be trying to give chips away. SB is tight solid but not particularly good. My image is slightly laggish.

Flop ($210) 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

checked to me, i bet $200, SB and cuttoff call

turn ($810) j [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img](4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img])

SB checks, cuttoff shoves for $975 more, i call, SB thinks for a long time, says "i was going to do that", and finally calls...

river ($3735) 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img](j [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img])

SB is visibly upset (and it's not an act), he checks. At this point i'm fairly certain he has a flush. Hero?

hmm... valuetown?

I think a lower flush is more likely than the nut flush here.

So take him for $1000 or so?

Weird.

He could also just have a 4, but that makes less sense than a lower flush (he couldn't really be upset with a 4 on the river as you basically never have a 5). His turn call is most consistent with a small flush (call is partially out of fear of a higher flush).

I'm also not so confident in our odds vs CO, who could have a hand like 4x pretty easily. If you were sure you were ahead of CO, but unsure of where you stood vs SB (but could bluff him off most better hands), then I'd like a bet. But here SB isn't really paying off, and you're not clearly ahead of CO.

I check it behind.

The nut flush is always the most likely. And if he has something like 87d, is he really calling a river bet? He can't beat a 4, 5, or a flush, and there's an all-in player, too, so he knows you aren't bluffing. Also, a 4 isn't out of the question. You'd be hoping he has exactly QTs.

I think this is one of those situations where you're called by better hands, and worse hands are all folding.

well, 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] are the only flushes you can beat and he probably won't call much with that if any. my money is on 67 because of turn comment. it seems silly to open yourself up to a c/r on the off chance you're wrong to squeeze out a couple hundred dollars in such a big pot. check behind.

I doubt you can take much out of him regardless. He has virtually nothing in his range that you beat, other than mid connected diamonds, that can call even a reasonable bet. Check behind here. Assume your hand will win at showdown against the SB, hope that the CO decided to felt with like TT or something.

I always bet. 700 please. they add up... and no your opp isnt advanced enough to C/R bluff you off your hand and likely scoop the main pot, your hand still rocks it hard, win some BBs.

Actually, i figured i had the best flush and decided to value bet 1k....SB whined for a moment and showed everybody his nut flush before laying it down. CO had AJo and i took it down....

edited to add: it was pretty fun listening to SB whine for the next 30 minutes when he saw my hand scoop the pot!
