NL $25 Tricky Spot with AK preflop
Here's an interesting hand I played the other night that I would like some opinions on. Villian here is pretty solid preflop, but pretty weak-tight postflop, running around 18/13/0.5. He had been raising to $0.75 or $1, but open raised to $1.50 one other time OTB prior to this hand (the blinds folded).
Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.10/$0.25 5 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $25.30 CO: $42.65 Button: $42.40 Hero: $28.45 BB: $26.70 Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG folds, CO raises to $1.5, Button folds, Hero raises to $3.... So here I'm in a precarious spot. I have AK out of position against someone who has made a large raise. I really don't like putting in a big reraise here, and I don't like calling, so I decided to double his raise and make it $3 total. I want to find out right now if I'm up against AA or KK (which I believe are the only two hands which he'd put in the 3rd raise). He's probably going to call with just about all of his other hands, but that's fine as I think I can outplay him after the flop anyway. This by the way is a concept right out of NLHTAP (in the paying for information section) and I believe this is a good spot to apply it. Thoughts? |

Re: NL $25 Tricky Spot with AK preflop
i make it $5 pf.... you're guaranteeing that he'll call your raise to $3.... you want him to lay down hands like 99 or TT

But I also would like him to call with hands like AQ and AJ.

But I also would like him to call with hands like AQ and AJ. [/ QUOTE ] yeah, but you want him to call INCORRECTLY with those hands.... so you want hime to make a big mistake, not the smallest mistake you can dish out |

Re: NL $25 Tricky Spot with AK preflop
whenever i screw with people who make big open raises from LP i run into the nuts, but if you do choose to 3bet, make it bigger.
