Default River blocking bet gets raised. Call this?

Villain has LAG stats over small sample. No reads beyond that.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

UTG ($207.05)
MP ($150.35)
Hero ($200)
Button ($241.30)
SB ($290.50)
BB ($98.30)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
2 folds, Hero raises to $7, Button calls $7, 2 folds.

Flop: ($17) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $12, Button calls $12.

Turn: ($41) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

I was going for the C/R A/I here. Didn't work.

River: ($41) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $20, Button raises to $70, Hero calls $50.

I fire a 1/2 pot blocking bet.

His raise really makes no sense, unless he backdoored a flush. I'm not buying that he has a straight. The only straight draw on the flop is 5-4, and he would have bet the turn with that. He either has a flush or he has air. Thoughts on the call?

Final Pot: $181

why are you making a 'blocking bet' in this spot? Just make a normal valuebet, and fold to a raise. you are losing too much value with these small bets. as played, he is never value raising a worst hand, so its probably a fold considering how weird/tricky he played it.

River was a value/blocking bet. It's pretty hard for him to call more than 1/2 pot with just one pair on that board, don't you think?

After he raised I suspected that he sensed weakness on my part and tried to take it away. My hand is underrapped and doesn't look like two pair anyway.

Bet more for the value reasons isura stated. If you had bet 32 then you wouldn't have convinced yourself to make a bad call. And people always call these bets with pairs, because they put you on AK.

1/2 pot river bet is a blocking bet? For me 1/2 pot bets on the river in decent sized pots are usually value bets. Also why the hell did you check the turn? Were you going for a c/r? I'd prefer just to bet and get value from Tx hands unless you think he'll bet these and you can c/r, still I just prefer to bet.

On the river I'd probably call because his play makes no sense unless he has exactly 44/55

Yes, it says in blue...

Villain is aggresive and probably floats me fairly often in position. This is why I was going for a C/R.

Ah I see now. IN that case I guess it's fine. I might worry that villain was floting you but checked the turn when he picked up a flush draw. I might call but it really feels like villain has a straight/flush and is milking you.

I don't get why you make a blocking bet if you're not going to fold to a raise anyway.

this is why I hate blocking bets

You make bets to make your decisions easier but you still have no idea where you stand if you're raised

Just check/call or make a value bet, blocking bets are bad
