Cable: How much do you pay?

I received my first ever full price cable bill. Up to a few months ago I always had a roommate who received the bill. Then I moved, took over the bill and had been on an introductory discount. Not anymore. I can't believe how much this is costing and I'm not even paying for the internet (it's nice living in an apartment complex with many neighbors with unsecured networks).

I want to cut back, but I'm not sure where I can. I watch a lot of different channels and HBO/Starz substitutes for movie rental for me. The brightside is that I'm only paying half and I work in a job where I can deduct the cable bill from my taxes (advertising) so I get some relief there.

This is Cox Cable for 2 boxes, only 1 DVR enabled:

This is outrageous to me, but I bet there are many people who dwarf this, especially if you add in internet/phone/etc. What do you pay?

I pay 103 total for internet & cable. I have 1 DVR box but no premium channels.

I have the Digital Silver package plus internet for ~$140, its pretty ridiculous how much Comcast charges.

Same for me, but around 85 now, probably 90 after tax.

This isn't one of the bills I pay, so I was a little off, I just asked my roomate and it turns out it's usualy just under 100. Sometimes more if we rent any non show/stars/tmc movies.

The part that sucks is that on the 6th of this month we no longer get fox because of a dispute between sinclair and mediacom. I'm hoping they get it settled pretty soon though, I'm gonna miss the sunday night line up until they come back [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

The problem still is that cable companies have local monopolies on the non-satellite cable business. It blows. This is something the government needs to take care of. Either that, or give me a la carte cable and I'll get rid of the 200 channels I don't watch for the 30 or 40 I do watch something on.
