Default Where is Chris Webber going?

As you all know Chris Webber was bought out of his contract by the 76ers and is essentially free to sign with who he chooses. C Webb makes it clear he wants to play for a contender. According to ESPN article, his top choices are Miami, Detroit, L.A. Lakers, and San Antonio.

As a Pistons fan I would be ecstatic to have C Webb. Sure after the micro-fracture surgery he is a shell of the player he once was. But, lets not forget that last year he averaged 20 and 10, and he says his knee feels much better this year. His passing and expierience make up for his lack of defense imo. This would also allow the Pistons to trade Nazr Muhammed and/or Dale Davis. I really think this would make the Pistons a serious contender again.

I also see Webber mixing well with Detroit's veteran players.

Starting line-up
C- C. Webb
f- Sheed
F- Tayshaun
G- Rip
G- Billups

How many minutes could they get out of Webber a game? Although if they have McDyess and Davis/Muhammed, there should be enough up front to let him go for 20/25, if that's all he can do.

I think a huge upside for him coming to Detroit is that he could really prolong his career by drastically cutting his minutes. Say 20-25 minutes a night. Similar to how many minutes Muhammed is getting now. Of course this is depending on if Webber is willing to come to a team to play less minutes. I think its good for him and his knee.

From what I have just read the Chris Webber bonanza is down to the Pistons and Lakers now.

C-Webb would get eaten alive at center. Opposing teams would spread the floor and drive on him. High screens and pick and rolls all day.

Miami can offer him the most money and they are certainly lacking in depth

He would be an interesting fit in L.A.

But he'd likely take more of a supporting role and probably receive a lesser salary than he used to have. If he can accept that, then it's cool.

Am I wrong to think he would make the Lakers a much better team?

He would help the Heat, Mavs, Spurs, Pistons, heck about any team, but with the Lakers he could be a beast.

Isn't this pretty much true of any team that he'd play for? Unless the Knicks have a desire to get him, then he can probably get a max contract.

Yes. Luke Walton does everything he does but better. Webber is immobile, can't shoot, and has no D. Maybe for 15 or 20 minutes a game at most.

I doubt their is one NBA GM who would take Luke Walton over C. Webb right NOW for the next 2 years if they were to have equal salaries.

Micro-fractured and old C. Webb> Luke Walton for now.
