OldSkool: Zak McKracken - appreciation thread
Not sure if there are many other gamers out there who enjoyed this game (or are old enough to remember it). But for me, it was the best adventure game ever.
It's not quite in the league of Monkey Island in public polls, but I had a lot more fun playing this one. Oh, and to finish with a brag & beat: Brag: I solved it without any hints, tips, or walk-through. Beat: I got stuck in Zak 2 after approx. 10 minutes already. Famous last words: "Use golf club on 2-headed squirrel." |

Re: OldSkool: Zak McKracken - appreciation thread
I played it about 12 years ago on some Lucasarts collection. I used a walkthrough for the whole thing though...I have no idea if I'd be able to finish it on my own or not.
It was okay, but I much prefer Maniac Mansion. Maybe if I had actually played it without a walkthrough I'd have a greater appreciation... |

Re: OldSkool: Zak McKracken - appreciation thread
it was my favorite adventure game on the c64, and my remained at the top of the list until day of the tentacle was released.
i only played it when i was a kid, and i remember getting stuck on the spaceship from mars indefinitely. |

Re: OldSkool: Zak McKracken - appreciation thread
I mentioned this game in my post in the Top 5 thread. I grouped in it with all LucasArt and Sierra adventure games as my personal 5th best of all time.
I remember the original manual was a very dark grey so photo copying it was nearly impossible, and since the manual with the plane codes was essential to the game it was hard to share the game with friends. Didnt stop us of course, just had to do alot of phone calling. |
