Default Turbo Tournament Structure?

I generally run a weekly nhle tournament with a $35 buyin, T2000 (100xBB) starting chips, 20 minute blind levels and a slow blind structure in a league setting. These generally last 3-4 hours with 8-12 people.

The season ended 2 weeks ago and before firing up another season, wanted to host 3 or 4 $10 “Turbo” tournaments, with at least 1 non hold em, probably PLO.

Any suggestions on structure change?

I am thinking:

-7 minute blind lvls.
-Eliminate first two levels of blinds. Start at 25/50. (Mostly so we don’t have to use the T5 chips)
-Increase starting chips to T2500 (50x BB)

Will this be too fast? Good for a live Turbo?

Here are my regular blinds:

10/20
15/30
25/50 (color up)
50/100
75/150
100/200
150/300 (color up)
200/400
300/600
400/800
500/1000
600/1200
800/1600
1000/2000

Thanks for any ideas.

Looks good for a Turbo, but I expect that 10 minute blinds will do just fine. 7 minute blinds are like 2 hands a level.

yeah, a wee bit more time would be good. 10 min is plenty turbo. Should be fun!

I personally think that 20 min levels is pretty turbo. Usually the blind goes up before the button finishes an orbit.

About 3 years ago, I played in a casino tourney that had about 6 minute levels. they ran all their tourneys that way. They seriously should've just dealt face up. 6 or 7 min. for live poker is way too fast. But, it did what they wanted, a 60 player tourney lasted a bit over 2 hours, so they got everyone back to raked hands. I havent played in it again.

I agree that 7 mins is too short for a live game.

We use 25 mins for freeze-out and rebuy tourneys and 15 mins for turbos. Turbos and rebuys start with 1200 chips, freezeouts start with 2000. We'll get in two turbos in a night (7:30PM to about 1:30 or so), and we usually are in the 8-16 player range.

Similar blind structure to what you show in OP. One notable exception - I got sick of even giving out T5 chips, so we play 10/10 as the first blind level, then go 10/20, 20/40, 25/50, etc.

Good luck -

Spike
