Default sportsbetting services?

looks like my previous posts got deleted but i will try again... I just started betting on sports and from what I have read, it seems like 95% of people lose in the long run. A trusted friend of mine suggested joining a sports handicapping service called "OTL sports". Their website looks great and their track record looks almost too good to be true. The website claims the company started in 1991 and has "real testimonials" from supposed clients...Any input from experienced sports bettors about using services such as this and about OTL sports service in particular would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

FAQ. OTL probably sucks without even bothering to look.

Your post reads like a spam-a-thon for OTL.

It's possible that you're just asking legit Q's about a site you have no affiliation with.

But the way you constructed this is identical to spammer strategy around here of,
"Hey everyone. I just discovered this great new site called XYZ. Anyone heard of it? It's been pretty amazing so far. You should check it out. Anybody else been to this place? is it for real because they just seem too good to be true. Wow. Here's a tip...you should go there and check it out. You have nothing to lose!"

So if you are legitimately innocently asking about the site you visited, well, this is why you are running into trouble.

If you are not-so-subtely trying to garner attention for your site then this is spam and it's kind of annoying.

microbob- thank you for the clarification. no spam here though. I guess my post did sound a little too much like an ad for the service I was questioning. With that said, has anyone ever heard of this OTL sports and am I wasting my time thinking about paying for picks??

Paying for picks is generally a bad idea. There is a lot of information about it in the FAQ section in the top of the forum.

Read the info in the FAQ.

Search for the article on here from the WSJ about Dr. Bob for more info on a real sports-handicapper.

Obviously most of the pay-for-picks sites are scams....or, more innocently, are bad handicappers who think they are geniuses.

Otherwise, I don't know much about the pay-sites. I do go to Fezziks free site though.

Apologies if your first post wasn't spam. With a link to the site and a pretty positive review, from someone with 5 posts, it smelled spammy.

If you haven't already, read this forum's FAQ.

there's an entry in there about paying for picks. in quick summary, it says:

Q: Should I pay for picks?
A: No.
