I was planning to call any decent sized bet (the ol' rope-a-dope), or raise a smallish bet, and then bet the river either way. What do y'all think? |

Played well. It's hard to play against worse players sometimes. Villain should have 1. folded preflop, 2. bet turn after raising flop

Seems like he is testing you on the flop to see if you have a high pair. After you call, he's probably putting you on AK or AQ as you would likely reraise or push the flop. His check on the turn signals weakness. Good value bet on the river.
My initial thought was to push the flop after he minraises you. You may get him to call with top pair, but he's probably not calling with any hand that you beat. So you effectively got 500 more chips out of him by playing it the way you did. Looks good. |

Edit: I totally missed the minraise.
I would be worried about a set there, but it is just the 2nd hand. When he checks the turn, I do agree it looks like weakness as I would expect smallish bet from a set there. At that point I put him on the whole "I don't think you have crap" min raise and go ahead and value bet the river the way you did. |

This is fine, you could even raise again on the flop because lots of players will go broke with top pair. I like raising the turn and not waiting until river if he bets again, meaning he has something. When he checks you bet river, NH.
