When do the brokerages send out the tax info for money gained/lost?

They don't. They send a 1099. It's up to you to tally the gains and losses.

It varies according to broker, but some of them do help you by giving tax basis. They normally send them out by January 31st, but they may send out revisions in February or whenever.

If they do not supply the tax basis, your accountant will not be able to do it without the purchase info - how much you paid for each security.
