Default Pretty new to $100 NL, brand new to table, and WTF?

Sorry, at work, no actual hand history. I sit down at a .5/1 NL 6 max table with $100. My 2nd hand (1st hand was won preflop by a player not in this hand) I get dealt AKo and raise to $4. BB reraises to $12 and I call.

Flop comes K-T-4 rainbow. BB shoves allin and covers. WTF? At this level what is this usually? I've talked to two people, one says easy call, one says easy fold. So you guys play this a lot, you make the call.

Edit to add: I had played mostly limit for cash games last year, and NL MTT and STT. So I'm still working on the nuances of the NL cash game, and specifically what the players are doing/thinking at the $100 level.

Call, terrible play most likely made by a terrible player with a terrible hand
edit: could easily have AA but there is more hands they would do this with that you have crushed.

Instacall.

I like a 4-bet PF too, but since you're in position I guess calling's fine.

Most times i expect to see Aces here. People at this level have no idea how to play them post flop so they tend to do the above.

What else is he re-raising to $12 with PF? AA KK, surely not QQ, JJ and pushing the flop with a K on the board?

I think at best you're splitting here. I'd fold.

Claunchy,

I contemplated the PF 4-bet, but didn't due to 1)complete unfamiliarity with opponent and 2) position.

In a 6 max NL $100 game, I assigned my opp this 3 bet range: 99+, AJs+, AQ+. I don't mean that's optimal, but how do you think that compares to your range for an unknown 3-bettor?

If you're folding AK, wouldn't this be a GREAT line by QQ and JJ on this flop?

Call call call call call call call call.

And furthermore, call.

I had a read on this guy as being a moron and was only raising this hand hoping to play with him in the blind, but still, people that bet like this do it with all kinds of hands:

Full Tilt Poker
$1/$2 No Limit Hold'em Ring Game
6 Players
LegoPoker Hand Converter

Stack Sizes
BB: $378
Hero (UTG): $200
MP: $197.75
CO: $173
BTN: $173.60
SB: $239.7

Preflop: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($3, 6 players)
Hero raises to $7, MP folds, CO folds, BTN folds, SB folds, BB calls $5

Flop: K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($15, 2 players)
BB bets $220, Hero calls all in for $193
Uncalled bet of $27 returned to BB

Turn: K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] [J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]] ($401, 2 players)
No action

River: K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] [2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]] ($401, 2 players)

Results:
BB had Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (a pair of Queens)
Hero had A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (a pair of Aces) and won $398
Final Pot: $398.00 ($3.00 rake)

The fact that villain played the hand this way makes him a moron ipso facto. The 1 time in 10 you're getting super-leveled and this actually is AA is more than made up for by the 9 times he has crap.
