How Long To Cash Personal Check?

I closed on my house on the 9th of December and wrote the lawyer a personal check for $470 for whatever it was that he did ... on the 27th of December I noticed he still hadn't cashed it so I wrote him an email and asked him to cash it "soon". He wrote back the same day with "Sure". It is now the 9th of January and he still hasn't cashed it ...

1) How long should I expect to wait for him to cash it? He is a professional and a partner in his law firm.
2) What's my next play if any? Write another email telling him to cash it?

Maybe I should mention I was a bit of a difficult customer ... ie. I actually expected calls back and answers to my questions during the period leading up to the closing ... I'm obviously a small customer to them, as they were the laywer for the bank as well, but WTF ever happened to customer service?

Why not just make sure you don't spend that $470 and just hope he makes the cheque disappear instead of worrying whether or not the douche is going to cash it.....

Aside from all the cash needed for closing, there's a ton of BS spending on crap needed around the new house ... I'm small stakes boss.

money in your account - 470 = how much you can spend

seems simple to me. are you hoping that if he "waits too long" you can not pay this man? that somehow he forfeits the money?

Let me put it this way ... when someone pays me with a personal check, I sure as hell don't wait a month or more to cash it ... when I cash it promptly it's as a courtesy so they don't have to keep an eye on their bank account ... I would've expected the same from the lawyer ... I'm guessing the answers from a balla poker forum would probably be quite a bit different from something like FatWallet

Yeah, it still doesn't matter when the dude cashes your check. Go back to complaining about your neighbors lawn maintenance or something.

Balance your checkbook, it doesn't matter how long it takes him to cash the check.
