Default boy, did that feel good. (just cancelled stars account)

I've been playing poker professionally for five years and been at stars for a little under four. I've been fortunate enough to make a good living for my fiancee and myself over this time. In the last four years she has not had to cash even one of her checks (x-ray tech). I have paid every bill that has come along. The first two years of that we were living in a modest apartment. The last two of which we bought a house, thus making my the monthly "rent"/ mortgage payments double. In the meantime we furnished this house with all new furniture, high end stove, stainless steel fridge, a washer and dryer, and a few plasmas. We remodeled a room downstairs to be a game room, thus needing another couch, another television, and yet another fridge for beer. We also have just added a $15,000 extension to the house. I bought a truck with cash a year and a half ago, got a couple snowmobiles and a trailer to haul them. I also became a silent partner in a small car dealership in this time.

I say all this not to brag but to show I am not some flash in the pan or have had variance come "crashing" down on me as of late. Ever since the stars fpp system was introduced at the start of 2006, I have been losing terribly and only at stars(I won the previous two and half years there). I play 75-150 O-8 when at a casino and win consistently. At this year's wsop, I played in 6 or 7 tournaments without a cash, had a room at the Orleans and a rental car for the whole time I was out there(3 and a half weeks). I paid for the whole trip through cash games alone and still had about ten thousand more in cash when I got home than when I left. This isn't my first rodeo. But I can't seem to even beat the 5-10 O-8 games on stars. Stars does have the best and toughest players on the net but I am not losing to the toughest players, I am losing to O-8 players who play 359king rainbow for two bets cold.
Before anyone says it, I did not increase the amount of tables I chose to play at the start of 06' to chase supernova. I played the exact amount of tables as I had the previous four years with maybe a few extra hours during week here and there. The only time I played more tables was actually in the last three or four days. I had been wanting to cancel my stars account for quite awhile now but I still thought that things would turn around eventually. Well today I finally did and I'll tell you what; it feels great.

I, like many others, was initially excited about the supernova elite "chase". But the more I thought about the actual "rakeback" I would be getting from stars for the 500 or 600 thousand hands I would need to play to achieve supernova elite I realized I would just be better off playing a bulk of those at wpex (even at the lower limits). The rest of my hands will go to full tilt (when I have an O8 craving).

Anyway, I will keep track of how I'm doing at other sites and then maybe I can compare rakeback and winrates with someone who's played a comparable amount of hands for the year. This would probably be between 500 and 600k as stated earlier.

In parting, I would like to say that I think stars is a class act, has always had the best customer service, and has always been innovative in their different tournament times/structures/and buy-ins. I just can't seem to win there. And also , I would like to wish all of you who play there nothing but success in the future, especially if you are trying for elite status.

So, what do you think is the reason you can't win?

Something as rash and potentially irreversible as closing your Stars account doesn't seem like a good idea without any conceivable rationale. You're almost certainly in for a rude awakening at ther sites you try out if you truly believe that Stars has the toughest players on the net.

If you continue playing online poker and it maintains its stability, I'd be very surprised if you didn't find yourself back at Stars eventually. Hopefully they'll be generous in allowing you to reopen your account. What exactly it is that led you to your decision that you can't win there?

So, your losing coorelates with the implementation of the FPP program.

You fail to give us your conclusion as to why this happened.

I have no idea why this has happened. I am not saying it's rigged. I do not have a tinfoil hat on. I do not believe in luck.
The only things I am certain of are the facts stated in my original post. As for it being a hasty decision, it was not. I had been thinking about cancelling my account for a very long time. The decision to have them cancel my account will make me in the neighborhood of 150 to 200 k this year. I am good at O-8 and the games are juicy at stars (as O-8 games are everywhere I suppose) , so if I have the option to play at stars I will undoubtedly sit down and play an hour or two and since I should be playing at other sites, the option of having access to stars will cost me precious time on tables where I will actually win as opposed to getting coolered relentlessly.
As said before, I think stars is a great site, if not the best but I can not win there. I think most other sites are lacking in some respect if not down right lousy but I win at all of them.

why would you ever close the account? who cares if it sits dormant?

EDIT: i should also note that if you've played as much poker as you claim, you should know that what you have posted here is drivel.

Not agreeing w/OP, but his general conclusion certainly has some merit. Reaching SNE certainly requires a redic amount of hands, and presumably only winning players who can 8-12 table would even try. Thus, it would seem that tables would be full of players chasing this, whereas other sites would have more casual players.

Obviously this has been though of before, but is perhaps a reason why the OP has not been winning as of late.

If you had gone through what I have gone through at stars , you would see why someone would care if the account sat dormant or not. I would liken it to a rapist going to jail and the victim should be happy but is only moderately comfortable with him behind bars. Then he dies in prison and there is a HUGE relief , knowing they will never ever see that rapist again.

I apologize for offending anyone with this analogy but I think it may help people to understand what I had gone through there.
