Default Drop or wait for the turn?

sb is 46/10/1.3,
button is 50/4.5/1

Hero has KJ no heart in BB

Button open limps, SB completes, Hero checks
Should I raise this?

Flop - A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
SB bets, Hero calls, Button calls

turn 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
SB bets, Hero raises, Button folds

river 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
SB bets, Hero folds

Hero is getting ~7:1 on this call

This has really gotta be a stone cold bluff for Hero to win right? Does it happen this often?

True

I'd raise the flop and if SB shows any more aggression I'd be outa there.

I would also raise PF

I'd prolly raise PF and bet the flop. Postflop looks good.

I check preflop. I get lost on monotone flops, but I just fold the flop.

I like your ability to call the turn intending to call down but switching gears and dropping when he bets that specific card.

its better than I usually do.

You have mid pair w/ no heart on a monotone board, the bettor could have an ace, a made flush, a heart or could be completely bluffing, on an uncraised pot and w/ a player yet to act I'd fold easily fold this flop

I just fold the flop to SB's bet. There is only 3 small bets in the pot, you may already be behind, and not many cards are going to look good to you. Better opportunities await.

Folding the flop is weak.
I prefer to raise the flop. Your play is somewhat more risky but not bad.
I personally call the river as well b/c I'm a calling station and i wouldnt be surprised to see J8, Jx, Khx, KQ, 8hx etc often enough.

I'd raise preflop. Given how you played it I think folding the flop is fine.
