If you're interested in Multi-table tourneys, check out the MTT forum.

Basically, anything you want to learn more about can be found somewhere within 2+2.

If you are new to 2+2, explore the different forums and find what you like the best. There is cash games, Multi-table tourneys, single-table tourneys, other variations of poker, and others that you will eventually browse through.

GSIHE was the first book I read and it made me much more better.

I like Harrington 1 & 2 here. A reasonably intelligent player with a little freeroll MTT experience can handle it.

You've only been playing for 2 months.

HOH 1 & 2 should be your long-term goal to get through & understand (Getting Started in Hold 'em by Ed Miller is an excellent 1st hold 'em book - but most of it is focused on limit - although there is some material on NL tournaments).

So - yes - make HOH 1 & 2 the books to build your long-term strategy on.

However....

If you want to plunge in right away playing tournaments - presumably against players with more experience than you - and want to stand a chance - give Kill Phil a try.

It's NOT a long-term winning strategy - but it's a relatively simple strategy that will allow you to have a fighting chance against more experienced players.

Again - it's not a replacement for HOH 1 & 2 - which I believe WILL lead to long-term success after ingesting & digesting & properly implementing.

But Kill Phil is kinda...uh...fun - but hardly the long-term strategy for a serious player.

I'd read SSHE for a solid base, then HOH 1. Re-read it like 3 times until it sinks in. Then go for HOH 2.

I have to disagree here. I can understand the objections to GSIHE because it's "mostly a limit book," even though I don't really agree. A lot of the concepts that are taught through limit, because Ed seems to be biased toward limit, are the basics of hold 'em such as domination, preflop equity versus postflop informational advantages, pot odds (a general poker fundamental), etc. When he contrasts NL, he's already set up the right paradigm to think about an implied odds-rich game.

But SSHE really is mostly a limit book. What good would it do for an aspiring NL tournament player that GSIHE wouldn't?

I agree that HoH is fine if you're ready to dive right into serious and deep tournament study. But GSIHE is not only cheaper - you can learn to grind some income with short stacks while you wait for the next tournament to start.

welcome aboard. when i first started out i read hoh 1 then 2 and it was the best decision i ever made. i cant describe how amazing these two books are for tournament play. get them both .. and read them until they turn to dust. then go buy the 2 vols again.
