Default PS NL$25 facing monster?

(my first HH, so sorry if this isn't done properly!)

Reads: maniac has been entering a lot of flops, I put a minorly bad beat on him for a large pot and he spent a good deal of time playing back at me (and he had position on me); opportunist has been taking advantage of the loose play coming in with solid hands.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Hero ($49.45)
SB(Maniac)/ ($23)
BB(Opportunist)/ ($23.35)
UTG ($25)
MP ($36.15)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG posts a blind of $0.25.
UTG (poster) checks, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.25, SB (Maniac)/ raises to $1, BB (Opportunist)/ calls $0.75, UTG folds, Hero calls $0.75.

(I'm in it for the set value thanks to my reading here! Additionally, it appeared that MANIAC's raise to $1 was autocalled. Might have been lag but had me thinking AA or KK for Opportunist since it went check..raise-call)

Flop: ($3.25) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
Maniac checks, Opportunist checks, Hero bets $2, Maniac calls $2, Opportunist raises to $4, Hero raises to $12, Maniac folds, Opportunist calls $8.

Turn: ($29.25) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Opportunist checks, Hero checks.

River: ($29.25) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Opportunist bets $10.35 (All-In), Hero ???

Thanks for any thoughts.

raise to 1.25 preflop.

your bet on the flop is too small. i would bet about pot.
on the turn he only has 10 dollars left, just put it in, im not sure why you didn't.

getting 4-1 insta call the river.

Pre flop....I personally open raise with any pair (to try and build the pot from the start if I hit a set)

As played:

Flop: Hero should bet $3 (charge that flush draw!, maniac may call anyway ), RR that minraise (good)

Turn: Why are we not pushing?

River: Well you gotta call getting 4:1, if he has the flush or overset, well, you coulda played the hand different on the 3 preceding streets.

You have to think your set is good here. I don't think he flopped set over set on you. You think he would call your re-raise to $8 on the flop with a-k, a-q if they weren't suited? If he was drawing, and he has been playing like a maniac he would of bet the blank turn. I have no idea why you checked behind him on the turn. At that point you should be pretty confident that your set is good.

This would be true at bigger stakes but at the $25 you don't need to build a pot, the playas give their stacks away in unraised pots quite often.

yeah but utg posted so you will likely steal 3 blinds or get it heads up in pos which is never a bad thing.

Although it's true that players at micro stakes can stack off regardless of preflop play, the following statement applies regardless of level.

It is MUCH easier to stack someone in a pot that's raised preflop as opposed to an unraised pot.
