Default Moved up, took a hit. How to brush it off?

Make a long story short I recently moved up in stakes and took a hit that was about 20% of my bankroll. It's not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things but it's more than I've lost in any single session. Instantly I started having thoughts of moving back down, even though I'm still properly rolled for the higher limit, and have avoided the cash tables for 2 days now. I went out last night and played a live MTT just for a change of pace and today I'm going to play in a home game with some friends for really small stakes.

What else do others do in similar situations to brush it off and move on? I've never had problems dealing with losses in the past but this one time it seems to be hanging over my head and I can't seem to just shrug it off. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Time heals everything. If it's hanging over your head you're doing the right thing by avoiding online poker for a while. Enjoy your break, and come back with a fresh perspective. You might want to temporarily move back down in stakes strictly for confidence rebuilding purposes, but only you would know if this is necessary. Eventually this will be another blip in your poker career.

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'.
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick,
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide.
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point.
We go 'round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth.

20% of your BR isn't even 100 BBs. It's only 60BBs.

If you have a 300BB roll, that is.

Assess your game and decide what you want to do. Just make sure you were playing well.

It sucks to start a new limit on a down. Monetarily, it can shock you a bit. Also depends on how much a jump in limit you're making. I did and I lost 125 BBs when I moved up doubling my previous limit. I moved down and grinded on a lower limit for awhile. It's much easier moving up 1/2 limit.

If it's online, and you're multi tabling, ease into it. Add 1 or 2 tables of the higher limit while the rest are your old limit. Makes transitioning much easier.

HOW did you lose the cash?

Playing well, getting sucked out on?

Tilt?

Outclassed?

My theory. Read up on the hands you got kicked on, check out your PT stats, and then consider whether you should be playing with the big boys just yet
