Live AA Hand
So this hand came up at Harrahs last night. Jeffage and I disagree with how it should be played. Let me know what the optimal postflop line is. Villain has about 400 and I cover him
2-5 NL 10 Handed UTG raises to 20, one caller, I bump it to 75 with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Folded around to a seemingly solid player in MP who I havent seen get out of line yet. He thinks and thinks and calls the 75 cold. At this point I'm putting him on like TT+ AK, maybe AQs If someone thinks my range is way off let me know. Folded around to the raiser and caller and they both fold. Pot ~190 Flop K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] First thing that comes to my mind is that I hate this flop. This is where Jeff and I disagree. I checked and he thinks I should bet. My reasoning for checking is that, I lose to KK and JJ now, QQ and TT, don't really bother me. So I check thinking that AK will bet, sometimes KK JJ bet, AQss bets, most everything else checks behind, not worried about much as two outers dont bother me. TT folds the flop, QQ prob folds the flop, but maybe call a turn bet if it gets checked. Anyway, it gets checked through. Turn Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Crap, didnt want to see this card. I check again and he checks. River 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I decide maybe he has AK and is just fearing a monster so I bet 75. He raises to 150 and I muck. I will post results later on what he showed me. I'm mainly interested in the flop play, but all comments are welcomed. Thanks for the help with this one guys. Mike |

Re: Live AA Hand
So wait, he's only calling your re-raise with TT-AA and AK?

Re: Live AA Hand
this guy called the reraise cold, not the original raiser, if you think this range is way off (I included AQs in there as well) please let me know

Re: Live AA Hand
You have AA, you reraise to $75 and he only has $400.
What is the problem? Just push flop. If he has a set, so be it, as he is not making money in the long run. Plus you stack AKo, AsJs and other flush draws. |

Re: Live AA Hand
I don't think "just push the flop" is sound advice. He calls the flop with 4 hands, two of which are sets, one of which is AK, and the other being comprised of royal draws, which are essentially coinflips. Thus, you can see why shoving for well over the pot size on this flop would be bad.
As played, river fold is obviously fine, you can't beat anything in the deck. As for checking the flop, seems OK to me. |

Re: Live AA Hand
Haven't looked at the responses.
Your preflop range looks pretty good, but I disagree on the flop analysis. I think a lot of people with AK will check behind. They know QQ won't give any action, JJ/KK/AA have him toasted, and AK is a split. The draws out there make it a little more likely for him to bet in order to protect, but I don't think its auto. I agree with you that this is a pretty rough flop, but not sure whether I like betting out or checking. I'd probably make it 110 on the flop and fold to any more action. |

Re: Live AA Hand
If you got out floped you are going to get stacked. Just bet call the flop.

Re: Live AA Hand
bet/call flop, as played I think river is a call even though its close.
what would your action be if he bet 120 on the flop after you checked, just fold? |
