Default Ohio v. Southern Miss (1/7)

So Miss (-6) over Ohio 6 units

I'll list the reasons So Miss is the play:

1) Improved QB play for So Miss (and offense in general). Young is playing much better than earlier in the year. I watched the game vs. Tulsa and he was awful (replaced part way through the game). Offense in general was better and Fletcher has had time to heal over past month. Nelson at TE is a viable weapon.

2) Competition: So Miss losses were to better teams. All 5 in bowl games: @Florida, @Va Tech, Houston(neutral) (who they beat earlier in the year), @Tulsa, East Carolina (only one who you could say meh). Ohio lost @Rutgers, @Missouri, Bowling Green(?), Central Mich in conference championship.

If you look at the finish to the season and how So Miss handled worse teams in conference compared to Ohio in the MAC (scored 17 v. Kent St, 16 v. Ea Mich, 17 v. Akron, 34 v. Miami-OH team that couldn't stop a rec league flag football team).

I see So Miss able to gameplan to stop big RB of Ohio (McRae) which is Ohio offense. Hoping for 10-13 points from Ohio and 20+ from So Miss. The Golden Eagles finished the year playing well and were just overmatched by a Houston offense that can run & pass and has very good speed at WR in ConfUSA championship game.

I'm hoping Ohio's supposed stout defense was a product of weak MAC offenses they played.

FWIW my BSPs are all over Southern Miss.

They are also a semi-local team.

Because both teams have good D's and neither team has a powerful offense. Trust me on this one.

Don't want to be premature (chicks hate that ), but I'm a big fan of 10 minute drives resulting in TD when already up 21-0.

This after watching Vijay close out the Mercedes championship for a nice win (+755 at Pinny) closes out a good Sunday.
