Raise/Call/Fold?
I'm playing a live MTT which started off with 64 runners. It's a 1500 double chance tourny with 1500 and the option to get your other 1500 at any time in the first hour. The blinds starting at 25/25 going up every 20 minutes. I am a bit confused however of what actions I should be taking in the following two hands.
Blinds 25/50 SB 1400 BB 1700 UTG 2000 2nd Guy? 3rd Guy 1600 Hero 2600 4th Guy 1800 CO 1700 Button 1000 Dealt to Hero AH 10S UTG who has been playing tight poker so far limps in P3 who I've cast as a weak player also limps and i decide to limp with my ace ten. Flop comes j 4 6 and everyone checks Turn comes an ace and as it comes I notice the UTG player look directly at me. Its checked roudn to me and with pot at 500 I bet 400 into it. UTG calls my 400 and raises 800 more. He has about 400 left. What is my line here? |

Re: Raise/Call/Fold?
Kind of looks like he's holding a PP. That is the hand I put him on when a tight player limps in. Smells like JJ.
If he looked at you and you are stating it here, you must have thought it was suspicious in some way. Why didn't you just check the turn? |

Re: Raise/Call/Fold?
Fold preflop. ATo doesn't fare well in multi-way pots.
As played, flop check is fine. As for the turn, this is a situation where you are probably way ahead or way behind. This is a tough situation that will not occur if you don't limp ATo into multiway pots. You hit top pair, but you kicker is mediocre and a tight opponent could have a better ace, a set, two pair, etc. I don't really like your turn bet. I'd prefer to check this hand down and maybe call a small bet without more improvement on the river. Given your bet, I fold to his re-raise. You aren't beating too much in a tight player's range. |

Re: Raise/Call/Fold?
Illini is correct.
Fold preflop Check the flop. Check the turn. Call if someone bets. As played fold to the raise. If you checked to the river a small value bet is fine but fold to a raise. |

Re: Raise/Call/Fold?
Villain had ace king. Was quite annoyed as I had quite a large stack of chips up to this point. I see the point about ace ten being weak in multi way points however

Re: Raise/Call/Fold?
Here is another hands later in the tournament that I'm troubled with. We're down to the last 16, top 9 places get paid.
My chip stack is 10,000 which is slightly above the average of around 8000 - 8500. The blinds are 800 -1600 and I get dealt Ad Qd under the gun. SB 6000 BB 7500 Hero 10000 Player 1 17000 Player 2 3750 Player 3 13000 Player 4 13000 Button 5000 I decide to raise to 4000 and player 4 calls. He has recently moved to the table and seems to be quite a tight aggressive albeit young player. Flop comes 10d 10s 2 c I have 6000 left he has me covered in terms of chips. What's your line here? Push, Check raise ....???? I decided to push all in as I didn't feel the flop helped him. He called after a long pause and showed 88. Turn and river came k 5 and that was my tournament done |
