how many mini poker booms in past? WSOP questions.
i put this here because it came out a discussion and this is one of the few forums that isn't over-run with "did i play this correctly?" (nothing wrong with that but it tends to dominate to the exclusion of more cerebral discussions).
mason alluded to booms before slowing down but that this one should last longer (i agree totally, and this one is MASSIVE). i was wondering how many mini-booms there have been in the past.. also, if you don't mind, i'll append this here: where can i get info about the WSOP history... basically two things: 1) number of players each year; 2) the path that raymer, moneymaker etc. took to winning. i want to see how much good luck they had (i know the answer just want to know degree).. thanks in advance! |

Re: how many mini poker booms in past? WSOP questions.
"The Championship Table" by Smith/McEvoy covers main events 1970-2003. Moneymaker wrote his own book, and I'm sure there's extensive, free online info on the last two years.

Re: how many mini poker booms in past? WSOP questions.
there is a book called "All-in. The unofficial history of the WSOP" (or something like that) which appears to be VERY good.
I paged through it at a Barnes and Noble and was liking it a lot. Forget the author's name. Look for it. It appears to have a TON of really interesting info for those who like WSOP history. |

microbob, thanks... hadn't seen that book before (had problem linking it here).
assuming it's the same book, you had the title slightly wrong, but it's by grotenstein |

Re: how many mini poker booms in past? WSOP questions.
yeah. i think that was the author's name.
It also got a positive review in whatever mag I happened to read last month (probably cardplayer). That doesn't mean THAT much. But I did think it looked really good. |

Check this site out too if you haven't yet, it's always cool to look at when I'm feeling historical. Got tons of great WSOP info. |
