Cool Story My Dad Was Telling Me

This a really cool story and such a badass idea. After reading several articles about the hijacking one specifically says not one passenger ever knew they were being hijacked, what a badass.

I am only 20 but apparently this was a huge deal and my dad was fairly surprised that I had never heard of this.

Cliff Notes: in the 1970s guy hijacks plane without passengers knowing, gets ransom when passengers disembark, asks for 5 parachutes (to make the FBI think the crew was jumping out of airplane with him so he was given functional parachutes) and then jumps out of the airplane without the crew noticing with the 200k, he was never found. Is the only Hijacking in United States history that is still unsolved.

This is the story they use on Prison Break. Didn't know it was real.

EDIT: Read in the Film, TV, and Radio section about the way it is worked into the Prison Break story.

I guess I thought everybody knew about this story, I heard about it was a kid, I'm 25 now. Kid Rock sang about it, and in Without a Paddle, they find the money DB took.
I read the article on Wikipedia, the part I thought was cool was the suspect Richard McCoy. "Married, with two young children, he was a Mormon Sunday school teacher studying law enforcement at Brigham Young University. He was also a Vietnam veteran, a former Green Beret helicopter pilot, and an avid skydiver."
Later was shot dead after escaping from prison for another hijacking. WOW-why is that not a movie
