Absolutely Hilarious Mishap at Luckystar Casino (Oklahoma)
I guarantee that at least 60% will think this is a gag, but I assure you guys that it isn't.
I have only played at this casino once before and everything seemed OK. So, I don't know if this is a sign of rampant incompetence of just a fluke at Luckystar. 1/2NL table- a player complains about a card with a noticeable crease in it. We get a new set-up and 2 hands later, I am dealt As-Joker. That's right. I was dealt an Ace of spades and a JOKER. I wasn't paying close attention when he spread the cards and did the fake "finger counting" of the cards (where they take their finger and swipe the cards back towards them after the spread), but it must have stuck to a card and not been noticed. One guy said that he thought he saw something "fishy" in the deck, but decided not to say anything. Anyhow, as a joke I say "I'm all-in!" as soon as they're dealt, and I happen to be UTG+1, and the dealer is in the process of admonishing me about acting out of turn, when I flip over my A-Joker. Everyone sat staring at it for like 10 whole seconds before someone piped up to say "THE HELL??" then we went on to have a 15 minute discussion about whether I had kept my mouth shut and played the hand out if I would have been able to play the joker, etc. etc. So, yeah. I would imagine THAT has never happened to anyone at a real casino. I'm sure it's happened in home games, but woo boy that seemed a little nuts. |

By rule your hand is dead if it has a joker or any other card that is not used in the game being played.

Are they buying their playing cards from the liquor store?

If the joker had shown up on the flop, turn, or river, we'd have a different situation. |

If this had happened in Table Games instead of poker, and the joker came out in the middle of a shoe, all hell would have broken loose. I personally saw this happen on a baccarat table, and the supervisor was fired for the error. The casino paid out about $50,000 to the players.

Are you kidding? Not in my casino, not ever. 50k whatever they'll get that back but nobody's getting fired. Doesn't anyone understand random cards?
