% of A or K appearing on flop
Hey, new to the forum. I was wondering if someone could tell me what the % of time an ace or king appearing on the flop is. Thanks

Re: % of A or K appearing on flop
If you hold AK before the flop, then there is a 33% chance of pairing either your A or K on the Flop.

Re: % of A or K appearing on flop
probably not where you were going, but i always found these numbers interesting:
AA - 0% KK - 22.6% QQ - 41.4% JJ - 57.0% TT - 69.5% 99 - 79.3% 88 - 86.7% 77 - 92.1% 66 - 96.0% 55 - 98.1% ...the chance your paired hand will face overs on the flop. |

For this kind of info, "Weighing the odds" by King Yao is a good book.

[/ QUOTE ] Does this include the penalty of some villain having at least 1 overcard to your pair or are those "only my two cards" percentages? For TT- this may not make a big difference, but for QQ or higher it very well might change the numbers a bit. |

Thanks I thought AK was a 33% chance by the River. Is the same for any two cards? Would someone mind showing me the math. Thanks again |

I thought AK was a 33% chance by the River. [/ QUOTE ]No, it is roughly 50% to pair by the river. Which is why AK vs a lower pair is thought of as a "coinflip" (however, the underpair is at a slight advantage because the pair can make trips even when the AK pairs up). [ QUOTE ] Is the same for any two cards? [/ QUOTE ]Yes, any non-pair starting hand has a 33% chance of pairing on the flop. The advantage to AK is that when you do you'll have top pair, top kicker. |

Re: % of A or K appearing on flop
Math to determine AK pairing on the flop:
First determine chance that AK MISSES the flop: For the first card there are 44 cards that will not pair in the deck, so you have a 44/50 chance of not pairing. For the second card you have a 43/49 chance of not pairing for the thrid card you have a 42/48 chance of not pairing so odds of not pairing are 44/50 * 43/49 * 42/48 or 79464/117600 = 67.6% If we will NOT pair 67.6% of the time, then we WILL make AT LEAST a pair 32.4% of the time. |
