$5 rebuy, line check facing raise from big stack
Middle stages of a $5 rebuy torny. 450/1000 players left with 15 minute levels so theres a lot of play left. Blinds are 300/600 no antes, average stack overall is ~ 8k. Everyone on this table has 8-12k except villain who has 35k. i have 10k.
Everyone folds to villain in 4th position, raises to 1800 folds to me in the cutoff with QQ. This looks pretty standard but whats your play here? I think villains range here is A9+, 77+, KQ as he has been limping into a lot of pots and only raising better hands. A normal raise t ~5000 leaves me committed to the pot so I could push, but I think this will only get called by a better hand with villain having to call 8.2k more. I also hate flat calling with this sort of hand and facing a bet with an A or K on board. Whats your standard line here? |

Re: $5 rebuy, line check facing raise from big stack
i think you could play this any way and it would be fine. if i committ half stack im pushing on any flop if he checks it to me. if i mini reraise i could fold 2 an ace but i would not to a king. or you could push ALL IN OR FLAT CALL AND PLAY POKER. i hate mini raise but i might get greedy here and try to isolate and get more money in if he has kk or aa so be it

Re: $5 rebuy, line check facing raise from big stack
Stack sizes are a bit awkward but I like pushing here. The push even could be a way to represent AK, in which this guy may make a loose call with a lower pair. I hate flat calling since you still have 3 players to act. Also you are so confused on an iffy flop. Adding 1800 chips to your stack isn't an awful increase and you may also get called and have a great chance to double up.

Re: $5 rebuy, line check facing raise from big stack
tourney poker can be easy sometimes.
this is one of the times. i believe there is 2700 in dead money, shoving for 10k is a bit of an overbet but it is somewhat necessary in this situation since reraising any other amount is very awkward. |

Re: $5 rebuy, line check facing raise from big stack
Thanks, been second guessin myself too much here. I guess if the villain has AA/KK I'm destined to go broke (I pushed, he had KK). Do you play AK/JJ/10s the same way?

You will NOT only get called by hands that have you beat. Believe me, you have ANY poker player's calling range beat here with QQ. |
