Re: Saban
Obv he is staying at Miami, as he has been pretty adamant about it....
Seriously, wtf is with him entertaining offers if he is so dedicated to his team. This whole thing just screams disingenuousness ( ). |

Re: Saban
Saban's always been a huge douche. LSU job is not top-tier enough, so he used the Miami gig as an out. Bama gig ranks among the top-10 in the country, if not top 5. One could argue the only bigger-name programs are:
ND PSU Mich Ohio State USC (now) Odd that he thought he had to leave the Big10 (MSU) to get to a top-tier program considering the biggest jobs were right there in his backyard. |

Re: Saban
The Bama gig is only "big" in terms of reputation and the fact that there's nothing going on in that state beyond college football. The programs a mess that seems to be dominated by idiot boosters. There's a reason nobody else wants the job.

Re: Saban
There are a few top-tier programs in college sports, no matter the state of the program. 'Bama is one of them in football. Imagine Saban's legacy when/if he returns the Tide to prominence.
This is exactly what these guys do it for. Look at Roy Williams leaving Kansas for Carolina - he basically went from a top 5 program to a top 2 program just because UNC (and Indiana) is THE gig in basketball, and note that he waited until somebody [censored] it all up after Dean Smith left (Dougherty). They all do it. |

Re: Saban
agree with Dids
the Bama job just isn't that big. Another factor in that is the numerous SEC schools that all compete for elite status: LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn = pain! |

[/ QUOTE ] huh? Alabama isn't a top ten progam right now; that's why they haven't gotten a top coach. Texas and Oklahoma are bigger programs right now (and have at least always been an equal to Alabama). |
