Default Vegas Tournament Poker

Hi guys:

My friends and I are taking our first trip out to Vegas just for the weekend (2 solid days [Sat and Sun] of playing). Many of the reviews here speak of cash games but we are most interested in live tournaments.

We'll be located at the Luxor on the strip so can you recommend any cardrooms and/or specific tournies to play in? Midranged buy in would be ideal with a moderate number of players, low fees, easy process, etc.

Any insight would be appreciated

Allvegaspoker
They have a complete listing of all tournaments here. Most people like the noon tournament at Ceasars.

Thanks. How many people typically play in these dailies?

When you go to the tournament list on all vegas poker, click on the details of any tournament and it gives you the number of players normally in that tournament.

All right. I was just wondering if those were accurate or not.

Sahara 7pm or 11pm for $62, Caesars noon for $130, Venetian 8pm for $180, Wynn noon Tue/Wed/Thu for $330. Those be my choices. Sahara tourneys are big. Caesars tourneys are midsize (sometimes big). Venetian and Wynn tend toward the small size.

You do realize that no number is going to be 100% accurate as numbers and turnouts change daily. One day a joint could have 25 players, the next 90 for the same tournament. The averages posted on AVP are just that, rough averages.

Basically, just sign up for the tourney you want within 30 mins or so of start time and if there isn't enough players in it for your liking, unregister before start time.

One a side note, 90% of people sign up with 10 minutes or less to go. So you aren't going to get an accurate feel of how many players will show up for a tourney on any given date till just about start time.

Thanks again for all the advice and to bav for the specifics.

I did realize that no number was 100% accurate but getting a general feel of the number of tables and payout structure is what I wanted to know. I guess you can't beat online for the lowest fees and largest fields, though I'm looking forward to Vegas felt.

Hey Fullbody,

Tournament schedules for each poker room in Las Vegas were updated in December on The Poker Atlas. It's also a good way to see where all the poker rooms are in the area. good luck.
