Monitor Wierdness
I have a Dell FP2001 I've had for a couple of years. Yesterday a luminescent green vertical stripe about 1 1/2 inches wide appeared on the left side of my screen. Dell support says the unit is kaput. Any ideas on how to salvage it?

Re: Monitor Wierdness
I don't know if this will work, but I have a Dell 2000FP, and a few months ago a small box about 1.5" x 1" in the upperleft corner of the screen just blanked out, and I couldn't get it to work. It only did this on the VGA input. Then a week ago I accidentally kicked out the power cord. I plugged it back in, the monitor did its little boot up thing, and the blank square was gone. Pull and re-plug the powercord and see if that works; your monitor may just need to re-calibrate.
If not, try running the monitor on a different input (2001FP probably has a composite input, so try plugging a PS2 or gamecube or whatever into it and giving it a run). My monitor glitch was specific to the VGA input; when I plugged my Wii into the composite, it was fine. |
