Default What LCD TV to get?

Hi, I'm looking for a new TV to replace a really old JVC TV that is on its last legs.. I'm looking to spend around 1K CAD, I don't mind shopping online or from a store. I would preferably like something no less than 32 inches.

I've done a little research in reading reviews and stuff, but I don't know what a lot of the jargon means and if Im actually gonna be able to tell the difference..

here is what I am looking at right now:

Sharp 32 Inch Aquous - $899 (orig 1599)
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...&langid=EN

This looks like a good deal, but may be sold out.. will have to call stores around my area.

Dell 32inch - $999

http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products...;l=en&s=dhs

Again marked down and I hear Dell TV's are pretty good.. upper range of my price though.

Toshiba 32 inch - $929
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail...amp;catid=23244

Dunno anything about these, but my Uncle has a smaller one and it seemed okay when I saw it.

There are also similar ones from JVC and Phillips.. Along with some lesser known carried brands from Bestbuy like Prima/Westinghouse/etc. that are going for pretty cheap.. I would like something of quality but if these brands are still good I don't mind saving some money.

Any other suggestions are welcome, thanks

I don't have any recommendation but I know costco canada has a 37" LCD by viewsonic that is $999 (or at least did a month ago).

I was able to get the Samsung 40" LNS-4051D for under $1100 after a bunch of deals (was seen on fatwallet).

Bought at Sears.com, pricematched to circuitcity.com. Used fatcash for 4% back and mailed in a 10% rebate for sears.com.

Not sure if it's still active, but samsung is considered one of the better LCD manufacturers. The screen is only 720p, not 1080p though.

Math was something like this:

Sears.com price: 1599
Circuitcity.com price: 1299

pricematch w/ 10% added = 1299 - (.1*300 = 30) = 1269
minus 4% fatcash = $50
minus 10% rebate = $127

Total = 1269 - 50 - 127 = $1092

(and possibly better depending on how generous they were w/ the 4%/10%)

If you are going to take advantage of them, why wouldn't you do it with something better?

Go Pioneer. Far and away the best TVs out there.

FWIW, my mom has that exact Sharp, it's not bad...

Also, I would wait till the summer before you buy. When more of the TV channels go digital, the prices will go down. Give it 6 months and you'll see TV prices drop a few hundred, if not more.

Also, Sony makes the best medium format (30-37") TVs imo. Samsung, Sharp, and Panasonic aren't far behind though...

All 6 of the TVs in our house are Samsung, mostly LCDs, with a plasma and the big daddy 71" DLP. I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Samsung and would recommend it to all.
