Stars Rakeback / MGR
Just an FYI; Stars are apparently planning on adding MGR for affiliates in 2007, although they'll be implementing a "strict non-rakeback policy".

Re: Stars Rakeback / MGR
Did you get an email about this?... what is your rumor based on?
From the current Stars Affiliate FAQ: [ QUOTE ] Can I offer books, DVDs or cash to my referrals in order to get them to sign up with PokerStars? No, PokerStars does not allow additional incentives to be offered directly by our poker affiliates. Due to our privacy policy and other concerns, we do not reveal the names of players who sign up under your affiliate code. This policy makes it difficult, if not impossible, for affiliate sites to offer direct compensation, and we recommend that you choose an alternative method of attracting new customers to our site. Do you offer revenue share or allow rake-back? No, PokerStars does not offer revenue share nor do we plan to. Due to this fact, as well as our privacy policy and other concerns we do not allow rake-back either. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Stars Rakeback / MGR
ok thanks... relevant quote...
[ QUOTE ] 5. Will PokerStars.com's affiliate program remain CPA only or will you be instituting an MGR program as well? We probably will add MGR, but we will enforce a strict non-rakeback-policy still. We will probably implement a process and system to make sure that affiliates honour that agreement. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Stars Rakeback / MGR
While it's very beneficial for us affiliates obviously, I'm VERY surprised that Stars are looking to do this. I think it's going to be an administrative nightmare, and they just aren't going to be able to police affiliates unless they only offer MGR to a certain % of affiliates.

Re: Stars Rakeback / MGR
How on earth will they be able to strictly enforce this?
Enforcing a no RB policy sure seemed to work well for Party!! |

It will likely only be for "new" signups 3. It may not happen Plus, I think its a bad idea... cause it will certainly cut into the direct player rewards they are able to provide!! |

Re: Stars Rakeback / MGR
Affiliates will make software to track the rake. This is easily done and already done at party. if there is MGR, there is rakeback

This is easily done and already done at party. if there is MGR, there is rakeback [/ QUOTE ] One major difference, Party was still using individual trackers. It would not work without that. For example, let's say a Stars affiliate has 100 active players under the MGR plan. John Doe emails said affiliate and says "I signed up under you for Stars rakeback". If the affiliate signed-up 47 new players that month the affiliate reports from Stars will likely just say "47 New Sign-ups" and "147 active players". There is no possible way of knowing if John is actually linked to the affiliate. |
