Default One more 50NL - I try to get fancy on the turn and LAG plays back

40 hands worth says villain is 45/25/3.5. Seems to be the aggro, 'take a shot at the pot' type. I decide to let him take a shot at the pot on the turn, and then decide his $5 lead isn't going to build enough of a pot, so I raise it to a reasonable sized bet expecting a jack to call. Then he builds a reasonable sized pot. Any advice?

No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
5 players

Stack sizes:
Hero: $44.75
CO: $46.05
Button: $118
SB: $37.90
BB: $28

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($4.75, 2 players)
Hero bets $4, Button calls.

Turn: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($12.75, 2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $5, Hero raises to $15, Button raises all-in $107, Hero calls all-in $23.75...

reload before the hand, you can't lay this down against a LAG, I'd call.

The C/R is almost certainly gonna make him fold a J, unless he has AJ and you're beat. The c/r here seems kinda silly unless villain is an idiot postflop. OOP I probably just check/call hoping to showdown.

I think you should fold to his turn push, this looks like AJ.

So basically our goal should be to keep the pot small and look for a cheap showdown?

This makes sense

What are the advantages of betting the turn? I think we get more value from our hand and take control better so we won't be bluffed off our hand.

the problem with betting the turn so that we "don't get bluffed off our hand" is that we're pot stuck once we put any amount in there. I'd rather give the lag a chance to bluff a scare card, which he'll probably do regularly, than to value bet my hand on the turn and possibly scare away action he may give us.

Not really liking the turn check raise. And as said above, your too potstuck to fold.

If we bet 10 dollars on that turn, we only have 10 left, the guys gotta be crazy to try to bluff us when we're so potstuck.

It seems like when I decide to c/c down OOP and Villain makes a weakish bet, he checks the river behind and I end up getting like 1/5 stack of value out of a strong hand against a loose player. Maybe I should have just led the turn?

Redd - I like check calling turn and bet/calling river. Sure, he'll almost never raise the river with a worse hand, but in general you'll get a call from those jack hands that if you check river he'll check behind with.

good yes?

edit - if villian likes to float flops, I don't see why betting turn>checking turn. Sounds like thats what heroes read is (what I thought he meant by "lag" at least).
