Stars Supernova Status, Is it worth it rakeback wise?!

Ok, this may sound a little jumbled so I am going to try and explain it as best to my knowledge as possible and let me know if it sounds correct.

I am a SnG player ($55+5s Mostly). I play on Full Tilt and Stars.

I get 28% Rakeback at Full Tilt.

I am figuring if I play enough and get to Supernova and purchase the $1500 reward bonus when I earn 100,000 FPPs would it compute to better then 28%

Here is the math I figured behind it:


You buy the $1500 bonus for 100,000 FPPs... You have to earn 10,500 base points to clear the bonus. But while You are clearing the bonus ur earning the bonus points.


so if you earn 10,500 base points, ur really getting 36,750 total FPP to use to your next purchase.

When the bonus is cleared You really only have to earn another 63,250 points.

You earn 87.5FPPs per $55+5 SnG

63,250/87.5= 722 SnGs that need to be played to purchase a new $1500 Bonus.

722 SnGs x $5 rake per tournament = $3610 in total rake being paid

$1500 Bonus / $3610 Rake = 41% Rakeback...

Am I missing something? Doesn't this sound like the best offer online?

It's not worth it. You have play too many hands to get there. Where do you get your Full Tilt rakeback, btw?

I'm not sure why you're using 722 x $5 rake in your last calculation to determine "total rake being paid"

You're still paying rake when you're earning the base points. It takes 100,000fpps/87.5fpps per sng = 1143 sngs to get the requisite fpps. Which will cost you 1143 x $5 = $5715...or 26% rakeback.

Hope that is right.

Your right dragonstick. 26% is right. So barely, the deal is better at Full Tilt. Plus they give reload bonuses out the wazoo..

Did you factor in the increased rate at which you earn FPPs as you progress towards Supernova? It might make a difference in your calculation.

Bronze 0 - 1,500 @ 1.0
Silver 1,501 - 4,000 @ 1.5
Gold 4,001 - 10,000 @ 2.0
Platinum 10,001 - 100,000 @ 2.5
Supernova 100,001+ @ 3.5

Pretty easy to calculate what the VIP program is worth for SNG players per level. This has been done plenty of times before but I am bored at work, so will type it up instead of telling you to search.

If you play the $55+5 SNG's, you receive 25 VPP's per tourney (5 VPP's for each $1 rake paid). So at each VIP level you would earn the following in FPP's each tourney.

Bronze - 25
Silver - 38
Gold - 50
Platinum - 63
Supernova - 88

Each FPP is worth approximately $0.016 if you are creative with their usage. Buying the bonuses may be easier but the value is not quite as good. Using the $0.016 value for each FPP works out to roughly the following RB percentage for each level for a SNG player.

Bronze - 8%
Silver - 12%
Gold - 16%
Platinum - 20%
Supernova - 28%

You also get a little value from the VIP freerolls. Stars is also going to be adding in higher Supernova levels in Jan. at the 200k,300, etc. level but hasn't released all the details yet but it sounds promising if you can get to those levels also.

With all the different things that can lower your MGR at FT, Stars is more than competitive.
